Resident and visitor parking permit terms and conditions

  1. I confirm that my usual place of residence is at the address stated on the application.
  2. I accept that it is my responsibility to apply for a renewal of any permit as and when it becomes due or necessary.
  3. I accept that holding a permit does not guarantee me a parking space.
  4. I accept that I must return my permit to the Council if I move out of the permit parking zone or I no longer own or keep the vehicle the permit has been issued to.
  5. I accept that the Council will not accept liability for any original documents sent by post.
  6. I accept that the Council may withdraw any permit should payment by cheque, credit/debit card or electronic transfer or any other forms of payment be dishonoured in respect of the appropriate fee due.
  7. I accept that the resident parking permit can be transferred free of charge if I the named resident on the application changes vehicle(s). However a new application form must be completed for the new vehicle/s and proof of ownership provided.
  8. I accept that permits and tickets are not refundable and no refund will be given in respect of permits which are returned within the period of the permit applied for.
  9. I accept that the permit must be displayed on the inside of the windscreen so that all permit details are visible during the parking period.
  10. I accept that failure to display a permit or ticket or if the ticket is defaced can result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.
  11. I accept that misuse or defacing the permit or ticket will result in the cancellation of the permit or ticket book.
  12. I accept that permits and tickets can only be used on cars, light vans and vehicles under 3.5 tonnes gross laden weight only. Permits will not be issued for other vehicles and if used will be invalid.
  13. I accept that no replacement will be given in respect of lost permits or tickets.
  14. I accept that the purchase of a permit does not render the council subject to any liability in respect of loss or damage to any vehicle in a parking space or the contents or fittings of such vehicle.
  15. I accept that the Council reserves the right to change the designated parking space at any time.
  16. I accept that the permit may be purchased for a period commencing from the date of the application but cannot be used before the commencement date applied for.
  17. I accept that permits remain the property of North Hertfordshire District Council.
  18. I accept that visitor tickets are valid for one time use for one calendar day and must be completed in ink. The date of use must be completed using the following format: dd/mm/yy  (each box must contain a digit).

Medical and carer parking permit terms and conditions

  1. I accept that a permit will only be issued to an individual employed by or contracted to an eligible organisation as defined by North Hertfordshire District Council (the council)
  2. I accept that the permit is issued for the operation of professional duties when visiting clients living within a resident parking zone and for no other purpose.
  3. I accept that the permit is only valid for use in areas designated for residents permit holders and is not valid for use on yellow lines, any other type of waiting restriction or in off street car parks.
  4. I accept that a valid permit must be displayed on the inside of the windscreen so that all permit details are visible during the parking period.
  5. I accept that a permit can only be used on cars, light van and vehicles under 3.5 tonnes gross laden weight only.  Permits will not be issued for other vehicles and if used will be invalid.
  6. I accept that the permit remains the property of the council.
  7. I accept that the permit must not be altered, misused or defaced.  Alleged alteration, misuse or defacing of the permit will be investigated.  Following investigation any altered, misused or defaced permit will be cancelled and may be reissued or withdrawn.
  8. I accept that failure to display a valid permit or if the permit is defaced can result in a Penalty Charge Notice being issued.
  9. I accept that if I am no longer eligible for a permit, the permit will cease to be valid and must be returned to the council
  10. I accept that if the permit is no longer required it should be returned to the council.
  11. I accept that a lost or stolen permit must be reported to the council and may be reissued at the council’s discretion.
  12. I accept that the permit does not guarantee a parking space.
  13. I accept that the use of a permit does not render the council subject to any liability in respect of loss or damage to any vehicle in a parking space or the contents or fittings of such vehicle.
  14. I accept that the council reserves the right to change the designated parking space at any time.
  15. I accept that the permit is only valid for the period shown on the permit.
  16. I accept that it is my responsibility to apply for the renewal of the permit as and when it becomes due or necessary.

Staff permit terms and conditions

  1. Staff permits are only for the use of the staff member whilst attending work.
  2. Staff permits are for use in designated NHDC car parks only and/or NHDC residential parking zones.
  3. Permits are for the use of the staff member only. You must not assign or transfer your e-permit to any other person. The permit must only be used by the applicant.
  4. It is the permit holders’ responsibility to enter the correct vehicle registration number on the online system
  5. Staff permits can hold up to 3 vehicle registration numbers at a time, however only one active vehicle registration is valid per permit.
  6. It is the permit holders’ responsibility to cancel the permit should it no longer be required.
  7. If the permit holders’ job description changes and/or permit eligibility changes, the parking permit team will need to be notified by email parkingpermits@north-herts.gov.uk.
  8. It is the permit holders’ responsibility to apply for a renewal of any staff permit as and when it becomes due or necessary. An email renewal notification will be sent to the registered email address one month before the permit is due to expire.
  9. A staff permit does not render the council subject to any liability in respect of loss or damage to any vehicle in a parking space or the contents or fittings of such vehicle.
  10. The staff permit remains the property of North Hertfordshire District Council.
  11. The council may revoke a permit if it is believed that the permit is being misused.
  12. Should you resign or have your employment terminated, the permit will be cancelled on your last day of service.
  13. Failure to use the permit correctly may result in the issue of a Penalty Charge Notice. Further information can be found on Penalty Charge Notices (PCN).
