Food hygiene courses

These courses aim to provide practical food hygiene advice and meet your legal training responsibilities.

Who the course is for

Under food hygiene legislation, staff who handle or prepare open, high risk foods should receive training in food hygiene matters corresponding to their work activities. This should be within three months of starting work.

Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene training course

The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene has been developed to address the new occupational standards in food safety and the recent changes in food safety legislation.

The training programme takes six hours to complete and involves a series of teaching sessions followed by an examination consisting of 30 multiple choice questions.

You will need to bring a form of photo identification with you (e.g. a passport, or new style driving licence) which will be checked before you start the course. If you cannot supply a form of photo ID, your identity will need to be confirmed by a third party in person, e.g. an employer on the day.
