Use the sun to reduce your energy bills with bulk buy solar panel scheme

Would you like to invest in reducing your energy bills in the future and cut your carbon emissions at the same time?

We’ve joined forces with our fellow districts and independent experts in group-buying, iChoosr, to form Solar Together Hertfordshire, which will offer residents a competitive price when it comes to investing in solar power. The more people who join the scheme the cheaper it will be, so whether it’s solar panels on your roof, battery storage, or both, now is the time to seriously consider it. Elsewhere the scheme has saved residents 20-35% against the market average.

All you have to do is register your interest before 27 September – for free and without any obligation – so we have an idea of numbers wanting to take part. There will then be an auction for pre-approved UK solar PV suppliers to participate in, so we can get the best and most competitive price for the whole group of Hertfordshire residents who are interested.

After the auction, registered households will be emailed a personal recommendation specific to the details they submitted in their registration. If they then choose to accept their recommendation, the specifics of their installation will be confirmed with a technical survey and a date will be arranged for the installation of their solar PV system.

Councillor Steve Jarvis, Executive Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “This is an innovative scheme helping homeowners get a good deal on high-quality solar panel installation from pre-approved suppliers. It is difficult to give a ballpark figure of what the cost might be, as there are so many variables to consider, but average savings are between 20 and 35 per cent, and you will get an estimate cost if you register your interest. It is free for any household to register and there is absolutely no obligation to go ahead if you don’t want to.”

Cllr James Denselow, Deputy Executive Member for Environment and Leisure, added: “Not only will you be investing in a greener future by cutting your carbon emissions, you’ll pay less on your energy bills and reduce your dependence on the national grid.”

Marie-Louise Abretti, iChoosr UK Solar Manager said: “In London, 3,700 households joined a similar group-buying scheme and got an exceptional average discount of 35% compared to current market prices. We believe in the power of united consumers and together we stand stronger to get a good deal.”
