Special Meeting of NHDC Overview and Scrutiny Committee to consider report on Hitchin Town Hall and North Herts Museum

Date

PR Date: Monday, 14 October 2019 - 2:15pm

A special meeting of North Hertfordshire District Council’s (NHDC) Overview and Scrutiny Committee will be held on 23 October, to consider a report on the Hitchin Town Hall and North Hertfordshire Museum project.

Earlier this year, a Panel was set up by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to consider how partners worked together during the Hitchin Town Hall / North Hertfordshire Museum project and what lessons can be learned to improve future working relationships with partners.

The Panel consists of four elected NHDC Councillors from across all three political parties and an Independent Chairman, John Richardson.

Following both written and oral submissions by witnesses from interested parties, the Panel has now published a report for consideration by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee, including recommendations for the Council on future partnership working arrangements.

John Richardson said: "It has been a privilege to serve as Chairman of the review. I would like to thank my fellow Panel members, the witnesses, NHDC staff and the public for their participation in the process. I hope all those involved felt they had the opportunity to get their views across in a productive way and I hope the report is acceptable to all parties.

"I look forward to hearing the views of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee. While the report cannot claim to understand or resolve all the things that went wrong, I hope it will be helpful to the Council in reinforcing its approach to working in partnership with organisations in the future."
