The Service Accountant post is responsible for providing a wide range of accountancy and technical support services under the supervision of the Group Accountant. This includes the preparation of budgets, budget monitoring, closedown procedures and financial advice to managers, budget holders, Councillors, and other colleagues. Working in a small accountancy team, the Service Accountant role demands a team player that can adapt and be flexible to the ever changing environment and demands on Local Government.
The Experience you will bring
In order to succeed, you must have experience of working in a finance or accountancy services environment and hold, as a minimum, accounting knowledge equivalent to that of an AAT qualified technician. Your knowledge of Windows based applications, such as Excel and Word, is essential for the efficient preparation of relevant financial information, while your ability to prioritise workloads will ensure reporting deadlines are met.
