We’ll be finding out more about the items in our museum collection from around the world thanks to a grant from the Museums Association and Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund.
£75,000 will help towards a two-year project of research into our collection at North Herts Museum, as well as help with audience development. The project will involve employing a part-time researcher to look at colonial and other world objects in our collection, and working with our local communities who we want to engage in the process. The money will also fund a new cutting-edge display for the newly researched objects as well as a small exhibition which will be toured around North Herts in some capacity.
Steve Crowley, Service Director for Enterprise, said: “We’re thrilled to be successful in our application to the prestigious Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, which supports a range of projects that bring collections closer to people.
“We have a great collection and this grant will allow us to delve deeper into the fascinating objects we hold. We want to engage our communities in this special project and open up the museum to a wider cross section of society.”
If you would like to get involved or have information or interesting objects, please get in touch by filling in the form on the museum website or calling 01462 474554.
