Cllr Martin Stears-Handscomb, Leader of North Herts District Council (NHDC) said: “NHDC has robust business continuity plans in place to deal with the evolving situation, ensuring we can continue to deliver critical services to North Hertfordshire residents at this difficult time. We have given Councillors, staff and customers advice on how to best protect themselves from the coronavirus and continue to monitor the situation and react to it accordingly, in line with government advice.”
Following the Government’s latest advice on social distancing, we have taken the decision to cancel tonight’s meeting of Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Alongside this we are currently looking at how we can conduct the formal business of the Council over the coming weeks. A further update on this will follow.
NHDC’s Town Talks and Councillor Surgeries have been cancelled. Contact community@north-herts.gov.uk or local ward councillors directly by phone or email - their details can be found on NHDC’s website.
The Council has taken the difficult decision to temporarily close Hitchin Town Hall and the North Hertfordshire Museum from 18 March 2020. Any events which the Council has organised in the coming weeks will also be cancelled. We will continue to closely monitor and act on the latest Government advice and will re-open the venues as soon as it is safe to do so. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.
The Council is also advising residents to only visit its Customer Service Centre if absolutely essential. Many Council services are available on our website at www.north-herts.gov.uk. We thank you for your cooperation and support at this difficult time.”
