PR Date: Friday, 3 January 2020 - 2:30pm
Do you know someone who volunteers in their spare time to help others and their communities in North Hertfordshire? Time is running out to nominate them in this year’s North Hertfordshire District Council’s (NHDC) Chairman’s Volunteer Achievement Awards.
The awards are designed to celebrate the outstanding people within North Hertfordshire who volunteer and regularly ‘go the extra mile’ to make a real difference in their local community.
You can nominate as many individuals as you like. Nominated volunteers have to either live in North Hertfordshire or their voluntary work must have taken place in North Hertfordshire (please note, this doesn’t include Stevenage).
Just visit NHDC’s website to submit your nomination form before midnight on Friday 10 January 2020.
There are five different award categories:
- Caring Award – for someone’s acts of kindness
- Dedication Award – for long service in voluntary or community work
- Green Award – for helping to keep North Herts clean, safe and green
- Sporting Achievement Award – to recognise a major contribution to sporting life
- Young Star Award – for a young person aged 25 or under who has made a difference to their local community
The awards have backing from the Comet and culminate at the Chairman’s Civic Reception next month.
Cllr Jean Green, NHDC's Chairman, said: "We have received some fantastic nominations so far that show just how amazing our community is and how much people do to contribute to life in the district. If you know an individual who has made a contribution to the local community, please nominate them for an award and give them the recognition they deserve".
