Racking your brains for Christmas presents this year? Why not give a North Herts Community Lottery gift voucher!
You’ll be giving your loved ones the chance to win a cash prize while also helping to raise money for local charities, community groups, heritage and conservation organisations, schools and youth groups, and sports and leisure clubs – it’s a real win-win!
So far, the North Herts Community Lottery has raised more than £30,000 for local good causes, and over 1,300 people have won something. Prizes have ranged from extra tickets to £250, with other ‘bolt on’ prizes including a MacBook Air, John Lewis and Airbnb vouchers, and a year's subscription to HelloFresh.
Cllr Keith Hoskins, Executive Member for Enterprise and Arts, said: “There’s actually a better chance of winning the North Herts Community Lottery than the National Lottery or Health Lottery with a range of prizes including the jackpot of £25,000. By taking part you’ll also be helping good causes in the district which provide some really important services to local residents.”
From every £1, half (50p) goes directly to local good causes, 20p goes to prizes, 20p goes to our independent lottery management company Gatherwell to administer the lottery, and 10p comes to a general council good causes fund. Gift vouchers start at £5.
Cllr Tamsin Thomas, deputy Executive Member for Enterprise and Arts, added: “Our community lottery really is a win-win for the people of North Herts, giving a 1 in 50 chance to win a prize while 60p of every pound goes to help your local groups and charities.”

Mind in Mid Herts
“In these challenging times with all our costs rising, every penny we can raise directly benefits the people we support. We have seen a 50% increase in the numbers of people we are supporting since 2019 and before the pandemic with little or no increase in funding. Everyone has mental health just as they have physical health and we want people to look after their mental health the same way they consider their diet and exercise for their physical wellbeing.”
Open Art Box
“The regular donations from the lottery help fund our unique service in North Herts for people living with dementia and their carers in our community, including our face-to-face art workshops in Letchworth and our home delivery of art workshop boxes to the most isolated in the area.”
Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse
“It's so lovely getting a monthly payment – it means we can help all year round – and it’s very easy to register as a good cause. We have set up a community emergency fund for families who need help quickly due to unexpected circumstances, which has helped pay for unexpected travel to Addenbrookes Hospital, a special hover for a family with a child who has asthma, and carpets and curtains for a family fleeing domestic violence.”
Angels Support Group
“We are an experience-led charity based in Hitchin aiming to make the world a better place for children and young people with autism and/or ADHD, so they can meet their maximum potential in life. Being part of the lottery is easy to set up and maintain and given the odds are better than other lotteries it's a great opportunity for supporters.”
