Have your say on North Herts Council

Have Your Say - take part in our community survey

A survey to find out the opinions of local residents has been launched by North Herts Council to help them shape their future services.

Zencity, independent community engagement experts, are carrying out the survey on behalf of the council, which runs until 16 May 2023. It asks people living or working in the district about their experience of North Herts Council, how satisfied they are with the council’s services, what it’s like to live in North Herts, and whether they feel the council involves the local community in decision-making.

North Herts Council is responsible for a wide range of services that affect all residents day-to-day. From maintaining green spaces and providing sport and leisure facilities, to managing waste and recycling services, there’s lots they do in the community.

Traditionally the council carries out this community survey every two years, contacting residents for their views over the phone. For the first time, as part of its ‘People First’ priority, the council has created a digital version with the aim of reaching as many people as possible across the district. This new approach recognises the importance of using digital forms of consultation to make it easier for people to share their views.

Going forward, the council will run this survey twice a year to give residents more frequent opportunities to have their say on issues that are important to them.

Cllr Elizabeth Dennis-Harburg, Leader of North Herts Council said: “We know from your feedback that we need to consult with you more frequently and using a digital survey rather than a traditional telephone-based survey will enable us to do that. Moving to digital will also help us reach a wider, more representative sample of our communities. We hope this makes it easier for people to share their views and means we can consult you on what we’re doing more regularly.”

‘We appreciate every response submitted as they allow us to improve the service we offer across the district. Look out for the survey which you’ll see pop up on your social media feeds, on Google, our website: ww.north-herts.gov.uk/consultations, or via this link: https://bit.ly/northhertscommunitysurvey.”

For those residents who don’t have digital access, councillors will provide support with completing the survey at councillor surgeries and residents can also call Customer Services on 01462 474000 to make an appointment to visit the Council Offices in Letchworth.
