Get ready for the general election on 4 July

Blue note paper that has writing on it saying: 4 July polling day! Bring photo ID

The parliamentary general election takes place on Thursday 4 July.

Voting in person

Don't forget you'll need to show photo ID to vote at a polling station. Check which forms of ID you can use.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm. Your polling station can be found on your poll card, or you can use our online polling station finder tool.

Postal votes

If you have a postal vote and it hasn’t already arrived, it should be with you in the next day or two. If you haven’t received it by Monday 1 July, please get in touch with our Elections team who will be able to assist you and issue a replacement. Email elections@north-herts.gov.uk or call 01462 474000.

Don’t delay returning your postal vote. You can return your postal vote by Royal Mail. If you plan to return it to a polling station or to the Council Offices, please remember to complete a Postal Vote Return Form when you drop it off. Do NOT put it in the letterbox at the Council Offices. It is important that you complete this form – if you don’t, your vote will not be counted. You do not need to complete the form if your postal vote is being returned by Royal Mail.

Election results

Counting of votes will take place after the close of poll on 4 July.

The results for North Herts constituencies will be published on our website once the count has been completed and the results have been declared.
