Three community groups have been awarded a total of £1,526* following a meeting of the Southern Rural Committee on 29 September.
Kimpton Primary School was granted £657 towards creating a painting station as part of their playground development for key stage 1 (children aged 5-7). As well as a painting wall, the new playground is due to include a climbing/obstacle track, water play area and stage for play acting, all of which aim to improve the children’s developmental skills as well as their physical and mental health.
Offley Parish Council was granted £500 towards a new noticeboard for the village as the existing board is old, leaks and is difficult to operate. They have many posters to display promoting local groups and businesses, as well as communicating important dates such as Parish Council meetings and police surgeries.
Breachwood Green Charity Group (pictured) was granted £369 to support their work, specifically annual insurance for litter picking and hall hire and refreshments for two ‘pop up’ coffee mornings in October and December. They plan to charge people for the refreshments at the coffee mornings – which aim to encourage social interaction and build community resilience – as a way to fund future events. The group also carries out monthly litter picks with local volunteers to help keep the parish clean – in one year they have grown in number from four to 15 volunteers.
