Wednesday 21 December
Most refuse (purple) and recycling (grey) bin collections from last week have been caught up. Urbaser are still working to visit the few remaining locations left.
If your refuse or recycling from last week has not yet been collected, please let us know by contacting us online or emailing Urbaser directly.
Monday 19 December
Most refuse (purple) and recycling (grey) bin collections from last week have now been caught up. Some villages in the southern rural area that were due to be collected on Tuesday last week should be collected tomorrow (Tuesday 20th) instead, so please continue to leave your bin out.
Some garden waste bins were unfortunately not collected today. If your brown bin was missed then please leave it out for collection tomorrow or Wednesday.
Food waste bins are expected to be collected as normal this week.
Thank you again for your continued patience and understanding while we work to get services back to normal.
Friday 16 December
9am: We are aiming to catch up on all household refuse and recycling bins, so please continue to leave yours out if they haven't been collected so far. With temperatures forecast to rise next week, we will be using extra vehicles so that all refuse and recycling bins that haven’t been emptied this week should be emptied before Christmas.
Thursday 15 December
9am: Our waste crews are out again today collecting bins, but the icy conditions are continuing to cause problems. Please leave your bins out as normal and we will try to collect them. We are prioritising refuse and recycling collections, so if yours isn’t emptied on your normal collection day then please put it out again the following day.
Food waste collections are taking place where possible. If your food waste bin was due to be emptied on Monday but has not been collected yet, then please take it back in and we will attempt to collect it again on Monday 19 December.
Garden waste collections are also taking place, but if we aren’t able to reach your bin today then please take it back in and wait for your next collection day.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by the disruption to bin collections as a result of the cold weather. Thank you for your understanding and patience while our crews do their best in what are difficult conditions. Unfortunately there has been a small amount of abuse aimed at our staff which is not helpful and will not be tolerated.
Tuesday 13 December
9am: Our waste crews are out collecting bins today where possible, but the snow and icy conditions are continuing to cause disruption. Please leave your bin out as normal and we will try to get to it. If possible, loosen frozen waste from the sides of the bin to help make sure it gets emptied.
If your bin was not collected yesterday, please leave it out today and we will try to collect it.
Monday 12 December
5pm: Although our waste crews were able to complete some recycling, refuse and food waste bin collections today, unfortunately they were not able to complete them due to the weather. No garden waste collections were made.
If your bin wasn't collected today, please continue to leave it out and we will try to collect it again tomorrow (Tuesday) if it is safe to do so.
9am: Following the overnight snow and the icy conditions this morning, our waste crews are out collecting bins today where it is safe to do so. However it is likely there will be some disruption to collections if roads are impassable or where it is unsafe for the vehicles to access bins.
- Recycling and household waste collections are taking place as normal
- Food waste collections are taking place, though some may not be completed
- Garden waste collections are suspended
Please leave your bins out as normal and loosen frozen contents where possible.
We will provide further updates on any service disruption here.
