Come and visit our new café kiosk at the pavilion in Bancroft Recreation Ground – sales are already off to a fantastic start during the Easter half-term!
Serving hot and cold soft drinks and light snacks including toasted paninis, you can take away or sit in the triangular courtyard next to the kiosk within the lovely gardens. Dogs are also catered for with free dog treats on offer and water bowl.
Rob Orchard, Culture and Facilities Service Manager, said: “No joking around, we opened on Saturday (1 April!) and have had a steady stream of customers since. Smack bang in the middle of the park, it’s a great location to grab a coffee and snack.
“We are managing the Bancroft Kiosk in-house using our experience of running North Herts Museum café in Brand Street. Please pop along for a pastry or ice cream now that warmer weather seems to be on its way!”
The pavilion in Bancroft is split into three independent parts, one of which previously used for storage has become the kiosk with a service hatch. The kiosk is open daily from 10.30am until 4pm, but times will be kept under review based on demand.
Bancroft Recreation Ground is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Hitchin town centre and has been providing a place of relaxation and leisure since before the Second World War. The park features landscaped gardens, play area and splash park, tennis courts and multi-use games area.
