Organisations across Hertfordshire are appealing to the public to play their part in preventing outbreaks of Covid-19 in the county.

As part of a countywide ‘Stay Safe Hertfordshire: Play Your Part’ campaign, residents are being reminded that the most important things you can do to help reduce the spread of coronavirus are to:

  1. Keep washing your hands as often as possible, for 20 seconds with warm water and soap
  2. Keep your distance from others, particularly in indoor spaces
  3. Wear a face covering in the places you are required to and when it is difficult to stay socially distanced
  4. Self-isolate and book a test immediately if you get symptoms

Leader of North Hertfordshire District Council, Cllr Martin Stears-Handscomb said: “Everyone in North Herts really pulled together during lockdown to help stop the spread of the coronavirus and we want to thank all residents, and particularly all of our amazing key workers, for their hard work in doing so.

“However, Covid-19 is still with us, and we must not be complacent – we all need to take individual action to protect ourselves and our local communities so that the infection rate continues to decrease and we can continue about our daily lives. We are all still very much at risk, so it is vital that we continue to act upon these four simple steps to help prevent further infections.”

Dr Prag Moodley, Chair of East and North Herts CCG and Stevenage GP said: “Everyone in the NHS and social care has been working incredibly hard during the Covid outbreak, don’t let all that work go to waste, play your part. If you have symptoms get yourself tested, and if you are asked to self-isolate because you have come into contact with someone who has coronavirus, please do so.”
