The quickest way to report a missed bin collection now is to email our waste contractor Urbaser at northhertsenquiries@urbaser.co.uk or call Urbaser directly on 0800 328 6023.

Please send your report to Urbaser within 48 hours of a missed collection, and please wait until after 6pm on the day of your collection before reporting it to ensure it has definitely been missed. You need to include the following details in your email:

  • Your name (first name and surname)
  • Your full address including town and postcode
  • Your telephone number (including dialing code if a landline)
  • Which bin/bins have been missed (e.g. purple general waste bin, grey mixed recycling bin, food caddy, brown garden waste bin - please make sure you have paid for the garden waste service if reporting your brown bin as a missed collection).

Please note our service is now only collecting brown garden waste bins from households who have paid for the new fortnightly chargeable garden waste service.

If any of your household bins, including food caddies, have not been collected on their waste collection days, then please report them as missed collections on our website at www.north-herts.gov.uk/missedbin (you do not need to create an account to do so) and leave them out for 3 days before contacting us again. We aim to respond to reports of missed bins within 2 working days but with the current demand it is taking slightly longer. We apologise for the continued delay while we work to catch up as quickly as possible.

Food waste caddies: Any household that has not yet received their food waste caddy will be receiving a temporary one from East Herts Council until we can deliver an NHDC caddy. Our waste contractor will be doing this by the end of this week. These will take priority over over other deliveries to ensure it is delivered quickly. In the meantime, if your collection for food waste is before you receive the caddy, you can place food in your purple general waste bin.

***

We would like to apologise to anyone whose brown bin or food caddy was due to be collected yesterday but didn’t get emptied. Our new waste contractor Urbaser began the new collection service this week and there have been a few logistical teething issues which are currently being resolved.

If your street did not have their food caddies or brown bins collected yesterday, please leave it out again today for collection. If it hasn’t been emptied by the end of today, please report a missed bin collection to us using our online form at www.north-herts.gov.uk/missedbin (you do not need to create an account).

If you have already filled your food caddy, then please place any additional food waste in to your purple waste bin until the caddy has been emptied.

If you have not yet received your new food caddy, we are working to deliver them as quickly as possible. Please place any food waste in your purple bin until it has been delivered. We apologise for the delay.

If you have not yet subscribed to the garden waste collection service and wish to do so, you can sign up online here: www.north-herts.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
